Welcome to the official South African Kitesurfing Association (SAKA) website. Together with the (SAS) South African Sailing Association we strive for the following-

• To promote all aspects of the sport of kitesurfing in South Africa and encourage excellence in it.
• To represent kitesurfing in South Africa by ensuring excellence in competition management and judging.
• To establish South Africa as a premier kitesurfing destination.
• To grow awareness about the sport in the local community at large.
• To support and grow the South African kitesurfing industry.
• To support and grow the South African kitesurfing retail industry.
• To ensure that the IKA and ISAF sailing regulations are enforced.
• To create World Champions.

How to register with the SAKA ?

EVENTS CALENDAR 2013 / 2014

A kitesurfing association or club is the lifeblood of the sport ensuring a local point of contact for any issues that may arise locally.

Councils and bodies prefer to talk to associations or clubs - you look organized - it is one point of contact for them.

It is important to form an association or club to maintain access and growth of the sport
Do you want to lose the right to use the beach /access for your kitesurfing
and events ?

An association or club can highlight that there is a group of organized people as a point of contact - it is better to inform and create relationships before any problems occur.

We need to educate - not confront !!!

• Red Bull King of the Air
  
  Big congradulations goes to the South Africans Andries Fourie, Oswald Smith, Slan Steele, Luke McGillewie, Graham Howes and Jandre Fraser who flew the South African flag high at this years event held at Big Bay, Cape Town on the 3rd Feb 2013.
  Well done to Jesse Richman for taking first  place in such an electric event.

• A BIG UP to Taro Neihuis and Olav Van Tol on a well run and exiting SAKT. This year saw quite a few international riders participating and the level of riding was very high especially on the freestyle side. Thanks to all the participants for a great turn-out, making competition what it is today, and what it will still become !!!
  This year saw Oswald Smith becoming the SA Champion for the second year running, and taking a 1st place in each discipline. This once again proves that South African riders are definitely up there with the best in the World.

• The Langebaan Downwind Dash event was held on the and once again we saw Oswald Smith first across the finish line. This event is usually dominated by windsurfers, but this year saw not only a Kitesurfer cross the line first, but the youngest competitor to win this prestigious race !!!
